INFO: Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics). Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid JR. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance.

In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home – and her fins – behind and live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking.

Performed by talented rising 8th through 12th graders, this show is a fun and accessible way to enjoy going to the theatre!

Title: Indie Film Night

WHAT: Independent film screening

WHEN: Wednesday, June 27 @ 7:30PM

WHERE: The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre

COST: $5, free popcorn & soda with student ID

INFO: Short Film: Jawffice (Georgia)

Short Film: The Bounty Hunter (Georgia) – A bounty hunter takes a job to track down a vicious killer in the Old West, but not all is as it seems.

Short Film: – My Eyes Looking Back (Georgia) – This is a story about a murder in a small town that forever changes life as they knew it!

Feature Film: Ultra Low (Washington) – The story begins with a filmmaking team that’s already sacrificed to make several professional feature films. While having significant indie budgets and films starring name actors, they can’t seem to get the attention of the industry elite. Upon learning the news that their latest endeavor will not be accepted into any top tier film festival, the team has hit rock bottom. With heavy hearts, they push each other to pick up and move forward on development of their next feature film, a supernatural thriller called THE RED VISION, in hopes that THIS will be the one that finally turns heads their direction. As development progresses, the team lands actress Lauren Holly, star of films like Dumb and Dumber, Beautiful Girls, and Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, and her voice shines as a guiding light of wisdom for the young filmmakers as they push forward through the trenches.

The Marietta International Film Festival and the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre team up to bring a monthly screening of indie movies to the big screen. This short and feature-length indie film night will showcase works from all over the United States, as well as films from all over the world. Indie Night at The Strand is a great way for movie lovers to explore new films that they wouldn’t have the chance to see anywhere else and support their local theatre at the same time.
